Health Professional - Teala Stephens
We’re huge fans of physiotherapists, our designer is one! What was it that made you want to be a physiotherapist?
Growing up I swam competitively and often had problems with my shoulders, my local physio in Bendigo was hilarious to go and see, I couldn’t believe that there was a career where you got to meet and help lots of people and that also could be so much fun!
What is your favourite part of being a physiotherapist?
Currently I’m working in the public health system and I really enjoy the problem solving and being challenged to come up with solutions and interventions that can often be outside the square completely.
What are the most common foot problems you see in your female patients?
In my current role the foot problems I most often offer advice on is to my colleagues. I often get stopped at work and asked for management advice about arch and heel pain. More often than not the females that ask me are wearing shoes that offer little or no support, and this is because traditionally any footwear that gave such support were hideous. These ladies spend so much time on their feet that footwear is super important for them.
What features of FRANKiE4 do you think could benefit your female patients?
FRANKiE4 features that I love are their supportive and customisable insoles. It is a fantastic innovation that enables each pair of shoes to be individualised for the wearer to accommodate their foot – both sides don’t even need to be the same.
How did you like your FRANKiE4s?
I absolutely loved getting into the ELLiE’s – I now have them in black and silver. Prior to making the change to FRANKiE4 shoes I was struggling to get my work shoes to last 12 months, with the soles simply wearing out, and the body of the shoes stretching and losing shape. My new shoes are so much more solid, the support in them is sensational and I think they look great. My silver ones certainly get me noticed whenever I wear them and it’s so much fun being able to have a supportive pair of shoes that look so good for outside of work too. I’ve found them to be so versatile – walking kilometres in them in Sydney on weekend escapes, as well as frequently giving them a spin for our weekly trivia and karaoke escapades; they’re the greatest!
