LORD MAYOR'S BUSINESS AWARDS

17/11/2017

The Lord Mayor’s Business Awards are an important platform to acknowledge Brisbane businesses and entrepreneurs who have made outstanding contributions to the continued growth of our economy.

LMBA is now in their 12th year! The 2017 awards attracted a record number of entries... and we were so proud that our #GIRLBOSS, Caroline, made it as a finalist in the category CHANNEL 7 Award for Business Person of the Year! Caroline was up against some seriously fantastic businesses; Pillow Talk, RER Labs, Censeo Enginers & Building Consultants, and Wallace Bishop. Talk about stiff competition!

To announce the winners, LMBA held a stunning gala dinner at City Hall. Our girl boss was on the other side of the world neck deep in developing next season’s summer range, so couldn’t attend. Instead, she sent nine of her tribe to represent her.

No table was more excited than the crew at the FRANKiE4 table, waiting until the end of the night to hear the result of the very last category. You could have heard a pin drop as the MC unfolded the winning envelope. The winner is... Caroline McCulloch!

Despite thinking she didn’t stand a chance, Caroline recorded a speech - just incase. A room of 700 guests listened to the story of FRANKiE4. How seven years ago, a small team of wife and husband with an initial order of just 200 pairs of shoes grew to 100,000 pairs being ordered this past year, and dedicated team of over 30 staff.

A word from Caroline:

"I would like to thank every patient and every customer, and our wonderful stockists who support my business and continue to buy and endorse FRANKiE4s.
Thank you to my supplier for believing in me.
Thank you especially to my team, for helping me keep those balls in the air! Thank you for backing me, for your talent and for each part you play in this business. We are a small business but I know because of my team we do punch above our weight. Thank you to my family, and also to Nikki Parkinson for your ongoing encouragement.

"Finally I would like to thank my husband Alan. I know that we still have a lot to achieve and learn, but with you by my side I'm loving this journey.
Thanks again to Lord Mayor Graham Quirk, Brisbane City Council and Channel 7."

Listen to Caroline on ABC Live Radio with Steve Austin talking all things shoes, embracing fear, and why she would rather
save women’s soles than men’s.
